Catcher Todd Pratt had 2 base hits as the Indiana Green Sox beat the Auburn
Doubledays by a score of 5 to 3.
Indiana took the lead for keeps in the top of the 3rd inning scoring one
runner. After an out was recorded, Pratt tripled. One out later, Brian
Giles came up and he reached on an error scoring the run. Auburn threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Tim Wakefield(9-5) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Jesse
Crain earned his 13th save. Shawn Chacon(8-7) was hit with the loss. He
pitched 5 innings giving up 5 hits and 5 walks.
'This was a tough loss,' said Michael Smith, 'the kind that sticks with you
for awhile.'

A.J. Pierzynski had 3 base hits at Abner Field as the Auburn Doubledays came
back dramatically to top the Sandwich Sharks by the score of 4 to 3.
Auburn erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 3 runs. After an out was recorded, Rich Aurilia keyed the rally when
he drew a walk. Chris Shelton was next and he drew a walk. Aaron Boone then

winners and sending the 19,355 fans home happy. Although they lost, Sandwich
did out-hit Auburn 11 to 8.
The victory was credited to Brad Thompson(1-3) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Justin Speier(1-4) in relief.
Michael Smith was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when
asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he
volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Lou
Cordero, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you
come up on the short end of one of these!'
Kevin Mench hits a walk off home run in the bottom of the 10th to give Auburn the 4-3 win over Sandwich.

Mike Maroth went the distance as the Auburn Doubledays beat the Sandwich
Sharks in 10 innings by a score of 4 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Auburn came out on
top in the 10th inning. Kevin Mench hit a bases-empty home run (his 11th of
the season) resulting in an exciting win for Auburn and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Auburn totaled 9 on the night.

Lowry(10-3) had a strong outing. He didn't give up much, just 6 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings. Sandwich finished with 14 hits in the victory.
Jose Contreras(7-7) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by
Sandwich, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Lowry was
humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident
in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me and I just threw
what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
