At Abner Field, the Auburn faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Jose Contreras(2-2) finally bested his Cifton Park counterpart, Paul
Byrd(1-4), by the score of 2 to 1.
Auburn came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of 3
hits. After an out was recorded, David Dellucci started the rally when he
drew a walk. Ben Broussard was next and he doubled. Chris Shelton then
doubled bringing in two baserunners. Neither team managed to score after the
4th inning.
Bob Wickman got the save, his 8th. Byrd suffered the loss. He surrendered 2
runs and 7 hits in 8 innings.
